This is cool. The #OpenStreetMap #France community have their videos on their own #PeerTube instance! Community owned, less centralized systems!

@yorik Awesome! ๐ ๐
@ratbaby The power to develop Mastodon is not centralized. There is a version of Mastodon which is the most popular and provided by me, but there are already thousands of forks with various small and big tweaks, and every admin can choose what to install or what modifications to make; not to mention software like Pleroma and Pixelfed, Rustodon and Kroeg, Misskey and Miniverse which provide 100% independent code to interact with the same network.
I see a lot of people here who view running linux as an axiomatic good.
I don't understand that viewpoint. Ask yourself a question, which OS's corporate sponsor *currently* makes more ethical and fair decisions in hiring, compensation, and HR.
Red Hat, for example, still gets horrifying glassdoor stories. Folks from Canonical tell me paternity leave still isn't allowed.
I'm just saying, reward people for current actions, don't uphold grudges.
@mangeurdenuage I expected it to be bigger ๐ค

If you like capitalism, you should like #Linux, because it provides alternative to Microsoft/Apple forcing them to do better.
If you don't like capitalism, you should love Linux, because it empowers people, respects your freedoms, lets you use your devises the way you want, โฆ
The lesson is โ just love Linux

I would like to announce a public server running #brutaldon: https://brutaldon.online/
Brutaldon is a brutalist, Web 1.0 web interface for Mastodon. You can use it as a client for any instance. Currently you do not need a separate brutaldon account. It is compatible with almost any web browser, including text-mode browsers like lynx, w3m, or eww.
Screenshots, issues tracker, and source code are available at https://github.com/jfmcbrayer/brutaldon.
Have fun!
