Some folks on birdsite are tagging our project account in tweets like "hey jack twitter should copy this thing mastodon does". The idea that this is merely about features is short-sighted. Twitter will never, ever, ever be your friend. They are the shareholders' friend, not yours. No feature will let you see what their engineers are working on, what's under the hood. No feature will fix their headquarters in the US following and enforcing US laws and customs worldwide.

So freaked out by folks (not at the tippy top) so invested in (actively, not just passively) keeping others down. No matter how many times I see it or experience it or meditate on it, it still burns me up with anger and is, I'm learning, part of the fuel that keeps me going despite it all. Word is their former CEO Charlie Ergen is largely responsible for this. His Wikipedia page ("Working Style") seems to indicate a bad case of assholery NOS. Up early because of the #timechange, lounge around, do some reading, take a shower, nice #ebike journey to work, floating into the office thinking "I finally bested #DST!" Then I realized I left my laptop at home. Bike back home, now an hour "behind". Silly me, the body never loses.
