what's up with so many aggro folks in the Phoenix area? many signs of a sick culture there...
You know ketamine shows promise in treating depression? With that in mind, see this article by Emily Deans, MD. It's fascinating.
"So is there a less dramatic, “natural” version of ketamine, something we can safely ingest every day, but might be a little depleted in our modern diets?"
And then she goes on to talk about magnesium.

@mirabilis I use Natural Calm magnesium powder for anxiety/sleep. 1 tbsp works amazingly.
remembering that Signs is the dumbest movie ever. Mel Gibson as a protestant turned atheist?! lol
Going into the holidays, don't forget to breathe for #selfcare. I'm using this box/four-square breathing technique myself: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/making-change/201305/stop-your-anxiety-now
@luckyduck I got the "best seller" one on Amazon for my main box (it's the one with the negative ion thing which apparently is all woowoo like you'd expect it to be) and a Verilux small happy light for the office. It's not really strong/big enough per the research but i think it's fine for using for a few hours in the office for a little bump of light around 4-6pm.
@thewaether The crazy thing is that some people really think saying something back makes you the bad guy. Like nobody just randomly says racist things without reason. They are typically looking for a response of some kind whether that's agreement, a fight, or quiet obedience to the existing order of things. I refused to be bullied into silence. fuuuuuuuck that!
ok. anybody struggling with winter blues, depression or seasonal affective disorder, please try light therapy. It has helped my mood IMMENSELY and very quickly. I started using my light this last Friday evening, had an immediate response and feel back at baseline today. Also the book Winter Blues by Rosenthal MD is a helpful read.
Friday night rush hour and SF DPW thinks this is a good time to do some street cleaning. okay...?
Oops it looks like the research on negative ion therapy leans towards pseudoscience, which honestly is what I would think. https://jnrbm.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1477-5751-12-14
omg my therapy light is coming today! interestingly, while researching #SAD and light therapy I found out that negative ions are a legit non-quack treatment for seasonal affective disorder (and probably other depressions too).
SAD kicking my butt. currently in doggie therapy.
first real depressive mood I've felt in over a year. Definitely blame the season changing (decreased sunlight messing with circadian rhythms) combined with the craziness of unnecessary the time change. Anybody who stuggles with similar seasonal mood issues check out some of the behavioral ideas from interpersonal social rhythm therapy.
