Make your own glitchy images w/ audacity!

- Save to an uncompressed format (.bmp works great!)
- import into audacity as Raw Input w/ Encoding: U-Law and Byte Order; Big Endian
- Play with effects on all but the first quarter second or so (to avoid messing up headers)
- export to format "Other uncompressed files" and click options, set Header to RAW and encoding to U-Law. If you have issues, rename from .raw to .bmp!

i made a tiny thing for curling the API: github.com/decklin/tusk

the cli ux is very preliminary, suggestions welcome

#botally ppl may be interested? all my twitter bots use basically this level of wrapping, not a high-level-language lib.

(inspired by @tinysubversions' web page tool... thanks!)

oh boy can we please be kind to each other here instead of chewing each other out

a little bit of patience, and a little good faith, will go a long way

Do you like my toots but wish I'd stop using the letter 'e'? Check out @mattlatailor

the wonderful witches of witches.town have introduced me to the glyph ꙮ

it is "multiocular O", a variant of Cyrillic O that is used in certain religious texts in a phrase that translates to "many-eyed seraphim" and basically nowhere else

I honestly am having a hard time thinking of a single witchier Unicode character unless the Leviathan cross is hidden somewhere in the codeplanes

helpful mnemonic: it's spelled masTODOn because there so many things in the TODO list

idea: mastodon instances for learning/practising different languages

Liam Cooke boosted

why call it UTF-8 when you could call it...BUTT (Binary Universal Text Transcoder)

Liam Cooke boosted

Ooh. apparently if you use the tag #nobot in your bio, the standard Mastodon followbot won't follow you! I like that. mastodon.social/media/cjbb9KGh

whats ur fav mastodon song

tanglier is totally a word btw *checks dictionary* oh wow it really is

hmm… looks like the Python package for Mastodon can set the visibility of a toot but the Ruby gem can't. good thing @poem_exe is already a tangled mess of Python and Ruby because it's gonna get tanglier

my pals and i are very interested in making art bots that address the ethical and social challenges of bots in social media and beyond. we're always talking about about these sorts of things, and it's why i decided to make my bot's tweets unlisted by default. botsin.space mentions one of our common principals, "Bots Should Punch Up" crummy.com/2013/11/27/0 If you would like to chat w/ or other bot makers like me look for the #botAlly hashag.

is OStatus the common denominator for networks that can interact with Mastodon?

I'd like to have a semi-unlisted option, where a toot is included in the local timeline but unlisted in the federated timeline. use case: art bots on botsin.space

@amasikel Good practice is to give your posts a moderate probability of being unlisted. #botALLY
