@udellgames I mean, if you were making multiple accounts, why not just have each follow people of the appropriate type, and leave the timelines closed?
@udellgames I mean, you can control what you see by following people...
@udellgames @Fenreliania At the end of the day, it's just twitter. Some stuff missing, and some other stuff fixed, but the basic interaction... loop(?)... is pretty much the same.
@udellgames @Fenreliania Maybe there's a client that can do lists like twitter? Or an instance that lets you do that.
@udellgames @Fenreliania Well, some people only look at the local timeline. So if you made an instance for game devs, and managed to convince game devs to come hang out and toot there, then viewing local would just be them.
But I don't know if people would want to make more accounts.
@DarkestKale Regarding feature requests, theoretically, an admin could run a slightly different version of masto with different features (though you're on Gargron's, so it's probably running the main branch)
@udellgames Instances are like email servers. They just host you, and you follow their rules, but in theory, they also protect you (if an instance refuses to ban nazis, for example, they'll stop federating it), and can theoretically run a different version of mastodon with different features.
@DarkestKale Possibly, but Gargron (and several of the admins for bigger instances) has got a patreon for this, so I feel like that's less likely than people just doing it for the love.
@DarkestKale True. I supposed the options are the condescending "It's open source, fix it yourself", or the mostly less condescending "It's open source, submit a big/feature request".
@DarkestKale I'm not sure if it's just my instance, but you can open the options on one of the timelines, and click "pin" to make it a new column.
@DarkestKale I knew Mastodon was missing something in a social network.
This has got to be the weirdest spam email I’ve ever received.

I just found out about a poetry workshop for prison inmates called Prose and Cons, and I no longer hate puns.

honestly tired of explaining to new users over and over cws on politics isn't censorship or Mastodon policy but Mastodon culture and the community looking out for each other.
We gotta remember to tell everyone when a new influx of users comes in
