Switching to Linux
I want to feel good about the tool I use everyday and I want it to reflect what I stand for so I just ordered a Tuxedo InfinityBook Pro (https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/en/Linux-Hardware/Linux-Notebooks/10-14-inch/TUXEDO-InfinityBook-Pro-13-v3-133-matte-Full-HD-or-QHD-IPS-aluminium-case-up-to-Intel-Core-i7-Quad-Core-up-to-32GB-RAM-up-to-two-HDD/SSD-up-to-12h-battery-Typ-C-Thunderbolt-etc.tuxedo) from @tuxedocomputers & they kindly agreed to preinstall Pop!_OS 18.04 for me (thank you, Vinzenz, you rock!)
I maxed it out with an i7 4-core CPU, 32GB RAM, 1TB Samsung Pro SSD & a QHD+ screen that I plan to run at 200% HiDPI.

This company that sells clothing says it had to stop selling to EU because of GDPR. This image IS their site now, it says: "Blame your government (no, really)".
Really though? It's that hard to sell me clothes while respecting my privacy? You only have to blame yourself on this one 😂

PSA: if a user habitually boosts stuff you don't want to see, you can turn off boosts just for them without unfollowing them
view their profile in the regular masto UI and you'll see a "Hide boosts from X" in the hamburger menu
this can make the whole experience a lot less annoying, but it's not well-known!

The beauty of Mastodon is not only that it is free and open but that it’s federated. You can fork it without losing access to the network or your social graph. There’s no reason a hundred forks couldn’t exist.
Also, when did forking become an insult? As far as I’m concerned, it’s the biggest compliment you can pay a project. And if you fork and stay federated, you’re actually helping to strengthen the fediverse!
What you can’t do is force people to build what you want out of entitlement.
Developers, do not embed Google’s products on your sites & compromise the privacy of your visitors.
#CleanUpTheWeb & strip your site of tracking devices by Google, Facebook, etc. to make the web safer. Yes, that includes Google Fonts loaded from Google’s servers.
