This is interesting: Is the #GDPR balkanizing the internet? So far, users "all over the world" could reach resources and pages "all over the world". Right now, with sites considering themselves not "targeting EU users" (and thus locking them out), access to these resources is about to get lost. Lawful geofencing? :(
@z428 Imagine if when we created the law banning the use of asbestos in construction projects, people would be complaining we would lose out on access to construction companies that were too dependent on asbestos to stop using it.
@kingannoy Well my post possibly was a bit offensive, but at the end having a regulation like #GDPR limited to a certain region of the world makes it likely difficult to access services by providers who do not explicitely want to target that particular region. If your market is not Europe, ignoring #GDPR and blocking European users from accessing your system is a working solution. This might lock out Europeans of an increasing amount of services that aren't "focussed on EU".
