I don't want to learn how to write a firefox plugin, but I also don't want to use any of those trash text-to-speech plugins that either filter everything through GOOGLE, or require you to buy a voice from MICROSOFT

@starbreaker I tried it. It's impressive software, but I guess I'm looking for something with a manageable amount of features? There were so many that I'd hit issues where none of the documentation helped me understand what was going wrong

@kimdanes @starbreaker firefox's reader view has a screen reader that uses your system text-to-speech (which would be orca afaict? it works automagicaly on my ubuntu box). The interface is pretty simple. Reader view only works for articles and blogposts and such though, plain refuses to open for a page that doesn't look like a single, giant block of text.

@jelle_dc well that's good to know, although I hate using stuff I don't understand fully.
