I was at the Genesis exhibition of Sebastião Salgado again and saw the movie about his work – expecting to see lots of nature and animal photography. I did not know that he had documented the human catastrophes of Ethiopia, Ruanda, Congo, Yugoslavia, and more. He said that his soul was sick, that he felt humanity was doomed, and nobody deserved to live. And I had tears running down my face and could not speak. Those beautiful Genesis pictures did come at the end and that makes it all bearable.
