The big issue I have right now (and is personal) is that Germany does not accept / recognize dual citizenship and I'm not really willing to renounce my own Australian citizenship.
I guess the next question is if citizenship is such a big deal and if so/if not at what factors. For example, there are British citizens living in Australia that have been permanent residents for many years and have not really bothered taking up Australian citizenship. Albeit, some recent changes last year had left people in this situation in a bad state of affairs though.
For me, I might be better off just trying to live in Ireland or somewhere in the EU that accepts dual nationality (along with other nice factors about the country) although as much as I love IE it's not where my head is right now :)
