So I finally got my first scientific paper published! In a scholarly outlet and everything! There was peer review and they asked for revisions and stuff. It's not in a top-tier journal and it's not world-changing and... ah, who am I kidding, I'm currently 60% happiness by volume. 🎉💦👌👏✅✨

I missed the actual day, but: This week, 170 years ago, the National Assembly in Frankfurt opened its initial session. This was the first freely elected parliament in German history, and also the first step towards establishing an actual Germany.

I was half-ignoring a talk show when one of the people said "Well it *would* be nice to have something good result from German history for a change" and

I'm not kidding! It's three solid minutes of this:

GUY: -n't you think he's nice?
LADY: Not... I don't think so.
GUY: Well I haven't heard him say anything rude.
LADY: Sure, he's polite, but that doesn't make him nice.
GUY: Isn't that a big part of being nice?
LADY: Well, a start, but there's more to it than that. I can't see him helping with (inaudible) doesn't have to.
GUY: True. I mean, I would, though. (Laughs)
LADY: (Laughs) Yeah, that's why you ARE nice.

I have my phone set up so calls from call centers go straight to mailbox. I think a caller didn't realise the mailbox picked up, because it recorded some chatter. And by "chatter" I mean I now have three minutes of two call center workers arguing over the definition of "nice."
