The 17th centuey poet Philipp von Zesen argued that "pistols" should be renamed to "murder puffs." This is something that actually happened.

If you ask me, the best part about eating the rich is cold millionaire leftover sandwiches the next day

I've said it before and I'll say it again: This should be a national holiday.

I missed the actual day, but: This week, 170 years ago, the National Assembly in Frankfurt opened its initial session. This was the first freely elected parliament in German history, and also the first step towards establishing an actual Germany.

I think that in Germany, the only standardised test you take is the final set of hell exams. The four-hour ones you take at the end of your high school experience.

(In reality it's not quiiiite that bad, since the decision is no longer binding and you can move up or down, but the three-tiered school system is some bullshit)

"At age 10, the government estimates your learning potential and assigns you to the worker, associate or exexutive caste"

You know I never thought about it like that but for some reason the German educational system works like a shitty YA dystopia

If there is any justice in the world, then in a few hundred years, some poor sod will publish a paper entitled "Cryptids of the 21st century: On the trail of Updog"

@Selden Not without glitch exploitation, I think.
