Therapist yesterday said it sounded like I'd given up on the future. I told her, "I haven't given up on it, I just want nothing to do with it." She had no response.

She's the first therapist I've had who's honest enough to suggest that standard-issue psychological platitudes won't work with me. Very refreshing.

Is there a laundromat somewhere on the starship Enterprise? Or do they just replicate a new uniform when the old one gets crusty?

Writing as an artistic outlet: Does it count if nobody but you ever reads your stuff?

When you paint, or draw, or even make music to an extent, the investment you ask of your patrons is small. A glance in your direction and you're in the club.

Writing to be read requires audience investment. What do you do if you just like to write? What if you won't or can't market yourself? Just accept that your voice is destined for oblivion? How do you motivate for that?

@starbreaker I also write, much of which has taken on a darker tone since that same fateful date. Sometimes it's cathartic, sometimes not. A common theme is similar to yours -- revenge.

Kudos to you for helping that family. That's outstanding.

@pzmyers I am stunned. I cannot believe this is happening. It's not hyperbole to say this country has been usurped by a gang of criminals.

@starbreaker Yeah, I already have a handmade website that's content driven. I guess my point was that we're discussing the problem via social media and "always-on," as the author calls it. I'm in complete agreement with everything he says.
