@starbreaker I felt a little bit guilty favouriting your toot after I read the article.

Just got invited to an impromptu 7-mile hike up into the Cascades. Hmm, should I go? Yeah, why not!

So many threats to FOSS these days. Time to set up a private mirror. I'll be damned if I get sucked into corporate computing.

Have a constipated dog? Evidence suggests my front lawn is a cure for that.

Tooting from a room with green walls. And green carpet. And green drapes. Under a green light.

I detect a theme.

Age of Mythology has a great soundtrack.

"Just pick a direction and go. Don't stop. Don't go back."

Me, the last 3 times I've gotten in my car.

Wanna mix and burn your own music CDs on the cheap? youtube-dl, avconv, wodim, in that order. Don't forget to throw in some normalize-audio.

mpv -- VLC's alpha sibling.

Resurrecting an old hobby -- calling this one "dreamspace" for no particular reason.

It's late, I'm beat, and now is the time to go fight that uncomfortable piece of shit bed all night long. The quest for sleep continues ...

@starbreaker Yeah. I think it boils down to a fear of FOSS. Anyway, they've made up their mind.

If I was independently wealthy, I'd tell the client to take a hike.

Client requests I go with SQL Server over PostgreSQL because "we want something more standards compliant."

This workday can't end fast enough.

That sinking feeling when colleagues who should know better think git == github.

@starbreaker :laughing: Yep, I did.

My takeaway from all this was to never assume 100% compatibility between modern Linux and some ancient UNIX variant.

@starbreaker 😆 It was tclsh on an old AIX machine.

Perhaps ironically, vim is my preferred editor.

Stuck in a terminal with a weird prompt -- exit, quit, bye, ctrl-x, ctrl-c, Q, X -- oh for crying out loud!

Open new terminal -- killall <weird software I will never run again!>

Few things make me feel more anti-consumerist than the billion dollar “fitness industry”.

• a reliable bike that can actually take you from A to B > soulcycle
• YouTube > a personal coach or yoga class
• body weight & a duffel bag filled with sacks of rice > nautilus machines and free weights
• the shittiest pair of running shoes you have and a pair of shorts > needlessly hyper optimized “training gear”

you may outgrow that strategy but better that than expensive failed New Years resolutions
