- my em(4) ethernet adapters won't do 1000baseT with a patch ethernet cable, tried to force media but it doesn't work.
- the probook 6450b has a BCM4313 wifi chipset, and I know the sad story :| (smartphones are great wifi dongles ^^)
- Also on the probook, the brightness keys are not properly mapped - in X11 I mapped these keys with xbacklight, so it's not a big deal ;)
But otherwise it's great <3
You know @starbreaker, you were right - Xfce has no added value compared to a simple WM setup on #OpenBSD, because you're not stopped by complicated services on this OS. Going back to lighter alternatives :)
Me: my full system cloning plan is flawless 😔
Cloned Debian:
inxi; 「Platform: No Openbsd support. Is a comparable sensors tool available?」
Yeah and it's super user-friendly :)
Fixing the "bad" auto partitioning that any newbie would use looks like a kind of test ;)
I passed it \o/ And learned how to use disklabel(8) properly. Editing /etc/fstab with ed was fun too !
/usr is ridiculously big but i've too much disk space on this drive anyway.
Time to fix my OpenBSD newbie mistakes, or to break everything ! There is an additional challenge: it's encrypted :)
I'll go for a way smaller /var and will fuse all /usr excepted /usr/local (because of wxallowed).
They already knew some eyebrows would be raised when seeing '-j 1' while installing from ports ahah <3
So basically #OpenBSD uses "0x0xCAFEBABE" (actually it requires 0x30784341464542414245 to connect) as the ESSID when it's actually "0xCAFEBABE".
I think i'll have a chat later on IRC, i dunno if it's a bug or some kind of security feature
I've benchmarked Chrome 65 and Firefox 59 - without entensions - on OpenBSD.
Whatever browser i'm using, it's slowing at the Draw stress test (7/20) very badly - it's way faster on other OSes.
Does it have an impact on normal web navigation: not for me at least :]
Playing Tekken (from an ext4 partition) using PPSSPP ( OpenBSD provides a binary package for it <3 ).
The D-pad buttons of old my Logitech Dual Action are not properly recognized, but it does the job when changing mode.
My WPA nwid is 0xCAFEBABE and it looks like #OpenBSD doesn't like it.
It wants 0x30784341464542414245 instead in /etc/hostname.iwn0 😂
All the other scanned nwid are displayed the way they're usually
There is indeed no test page for sane, so i made mine.
Cheated by using doas, because i can't find a proper way to have permissions for libusb as a user 😔
Sorry for the poor drawing ^^'
Kernel panic while trying to scan a picture 🙄
Tried to install kfreebsd-11 from experimental. Cute kernel panic screen <3
It spawns a debugger, a pretty smart idea !
So I tried to load the i915kms module. There is a problem here and it's not hardware related since it's effed up on my 2 laptops.
Brightness control works thanks to acpi_video on the T530 but not on the 6450b.
Cheated by removing lightdm ^^
The list of non working stuff is huge but hey i'm tooting from a bare metal Debian/kFreeBSD system !
Just for fun :D #oneko
The update isn't finished yet.
If you think Firefox or Chrome are RAM eaters, think again. Look at Windows Update eating several GB of RAM, damn, at this rate it could DOS itself 😔
Put the original HDD on my probook 6450b for a BIOS upgrade. It has windows 7 on it but i've never used it. The AV hasn't been updated since 1143 days and anyway is unlicensed 😂
