When people start prying into my business, and evasive answers aren’t working, I’ve found that a blatant but obvious lie is effective. They’ll know it’s false, so they won’t base their decisions off of it, but they’ll find it difficult to continue prying without accusing you of lying, a social faux pas.
@starbreaker I tried this, but then they’re all like “why don’t you want to tell me” or try to start telling me how I’m rude or something. My goal here is to end the conversation
@jordyd Sorry I wasn't more explicit. After you tell someone to fuck off, you're supposed to walk away.
At least that's how we do things in New York.
@starbreaker that’s the best part about New York imo. The worst part is all the “I <3 NY” hats/shirts/etc
@kaniini @starbreaker I thought you were supposed to tell people “heyyyy, I’m walkin’ here”
@jordyd Also helpful to get out of unpaid labor! “Sorry, I don’t have any arms” is one I’d love to use more often.
@jordyd I prefer to tell them to fuck off.
