I was a strange kid, and spent a lot of time thinking about thinking, how to avoid errors in thinking, etc. This led me to a sort of approach wherein I inundated myself with information that I disagreed with, because I felt it was important to really understand others’ opinions and why they hold them.
Imo it’s important to realize that “being moderate” is distinct from this, as I don’t think you can do this and come out not having an opinion one way or the other.

@jordyd yeah same, figured at some point that what most people expect to be neutral is actually "ignoring most facts", not "taking into accounts as much as possible"
