Most self-hosting solutions out there take a lot of work to set up. Free software may be libre, but if it takes longer to set up, it isn't really free. Time is money, after all.
@thor Real problem is lack of guides for non-tech people. It would be much easier if there is step by step how to do and what you need to run something.
@johny@thor The only self-hosted software I feel is easy to install and maintain is Wordpress. I have tried setting up a mastodon instance just for fun, but never got all the way trough to the end. And even if I did, I find the thougth of maintaing / updating it quite intimidating. Is it realistic to expect a Wordpress-like experience with federated software? I would love a guided install and on-button upgrade for mastodon!
