How does a fuse fail such that it's burning hot to the touch?!
If the current is above the rated current but still below the tripping current. The heat builds up until, hopefully, the fuse trips.
And no, that's not a failure. It's how fuses have been working for centuries.
@attilakinali well, yes, but this fuse didn't have continuity anymore, but seemed to be generating heat
(unless it was another element near it, I lack an IR camera)
