'...The American Psychological Association (APA) officially labeled “traditional masculinity” as “harmful” in a new report.
The label is in the report titled “Guidelines for the Psychological Practice with Boys and Men,” a first of its kind for the association, which was featured in the January issue of “Monitor on Psychology” magazine.
“Traditional masculinity ideology has been shown to limit males’ psychological development, constrain their behavior, result in gender role strain and gender role conflict and negatively influence mental health and physical health,” according to an excerpt in the 36-page report...'

joke: .docx files are acceptable
broke: .odt files are preferred because they're an open standard and can be viewed with a FLOSS program with 100% Compatibility
woke: .odt files aren't good enough because they exclude users who cannot (or don't want to) run libreoffice. plaintext should be used
bespoke: only ASCII characters should be used to maintain compatibility with legacy systems
artichoke: if we move back to pencils and paper, no restrictions can ever apply
new coke: communication is classist
For those who keep fetishising Iceland as a representative of their utopian fantasies: ICELANDERS DO NOT SPEND CHRISTMAS READING! THEY CELEBRATE JÓL WITH THEIR FAMILIES! AND MOST OF THE PRESENTS ARE NOT BOOKS BUT THE SAME SHIT YOU GIVE EVERYWHERE ELSE!
Stop making up shit about Iceland to make the most reactionary and tribal of the Nordic countries sound like a Marxist pseudo-intellectual utopia. It's a nice place but nobody is served by bullshit myths
I just read this article praising mediocrity and can't agree more:
We should keep on playing and experimenting no matter the result. If we never get good at a hobby, who cares? The path is what really matters, what makes us grow, in my opinion.
In an attempt to simply the terminology in the fediverse, I propose we start referring to "instances" as "neighborhoods". Here's a short pitch:
* Has its own set of rules.
* Has its own "guard" (sysadmin) that makes sure there are no incidents.
* Is usually (but not always) focused on a common theme.
You can send an update to:
1. A specific person.
2. Your own neighborhood.
3. Entire network.
IMO this proposal would make things about 30% easier to understand for newcomers.

Microsoft Edge engineer describes how Google sabotaged Edge browser performance via constant code changes to its services.
Also remember a while back a scandal about YouTube breaking in Firefox via similar tactics. That monopoly charge can't come faster.
