"Facebook users should pay attention: When you tag a friend in a photo, that’s feeding a massive facial recognition dataset"
Software developer self care is also fixing horrible error messages that make you lose so much time to avoid being bitten by it again and avoid other failing into this too.
Remember: if something is hard to debug, it's 95% of the time because you don't have the good information because it's not given to you.
Like good documentation, good errors messages save HOURS to so much people while it's not the funniest thing to do, it's one of the most important.

"These are the business cards of the Internet. And they’re so utterly boring to me."
I miss the early, less squeaky-clean web too, but it doesn't feel like it's coming back. Everything you say is public record; it's hard to be your unbridled self online anymore.

"The overweight web also has an environmental impact. The internet as a whole consumes more electricity than the entire United Kingdom2. So, if you're the sort of person who gets excited about recycling, then you should also consider shedding some of that dead weight from your website."

Traditional media art people, I am once again asking for advice...
Is there such a thing as coloured pencils that erase reasonably well, and if so what should I look for?
I've been using Pilot Colour ENO refills since 0.7mm mechanical pencils are inexpensive, but the refills themselves are hard to come by locally and take forever to get shipped at the best of times. (And now really isn't, not for anything shipping internationally.)

Here's an RFC I think should get more attention and love: RFC 7807, which defines a standard format for error reporting from REST services.
I write bugs for a living, pretty cool eh?
