Today I'm appreciating that the local library has a small glass display case which has rotating exhibits by local kids. It might be things that they've made or collected or just like, all with handwritten labels.

What are you appreciating today?

Remember the 80s?

When families used to gather around the TV to watch their favorite heartwarming dystopian shows like Cyberpunky Brewster?

What's the most ridiculous GDPR email that you've received so far? Mine has to be an email asking if I still want updates from a record label about Tasmin Archer, who last released an album twelve years ago.

At least it got me to listen to Sleeping Satellite again! youtu.be/lOqVQPq8zm8

@brook Can't wait for the full lists of which companies are not applying GDPR-compliant policies worldwide!

@mrgah Goofy-looking people are some of the cutest people around!

@brook It has a much deeper connection to 70s hard rock than I expected!

@mrgah It wasn't my thing either, but the internet was super formative for me in meeting the first queer people I knew of way back in 1992. I just saw that first queer friend of mine again at trans pride last year!

I haven't heard that longform episode! Thanks for pointing me to it!

@ND3JR Not the rat from the Muppets? 😁

@mrgah Still Processing is great! I just listened to a slightly older episode where they talked about their experiences with Craigslist Personals.

@brook I love all those ideas! I think I've heard of people doing some pieces of that before, like a solar-powered file server that was only accessible if you were next to it that may or may not have been connected to geocaching?

Speaking of GPS, that seems like a totally viable way to try it out. Looks like some artists in Minneapolis attempted it in 2014, but I can't find evidence that they completed it. citypages.com/music/leav-a-gps

@brook What a fun and impractical idea that I kinda would like to experience for real! If your brain came up with that, you might enjoy Kelly Link's short story Magic for Beginners, which is about a TV show that's also hard to catch, but not quite to that extreme. web.archive.org/web/2006011106

Today I'm appreciating what a sea of serendipity the internet is. Back in 2004, some friends and my future husband found a flyer while walking around town. They gave it to me because I was stuck at work instead of being able to go out with them. I scanned it in and posted it on LiveJournal, and then it took on a life of its own: lostfrog.org/

And this morning I just ran across someone who recently picked Hopkin Green Frog as a username.

What are you appreciating today?

@Warcat They were very cool! They live in this area and I met them when some of my coworkers presented them with the Gaming for Everyone award at the Independent Games Festival Awards last year.

I took Totoro climbing in the Enchantments this weekend:

@Warcat Thanks! I was lucky enough to meet the developers of A Hero's Call, but I haven't heard of the Bokurano Daibouken games. I'll have to check them out!

@Warcat Welcome Matteo! What are some of your favorite audio games?

@jeka Oh hey! I love the mouth and eyes.

Today I'm appreciating game streaming. It's humbling that anyone is willing to take the time, hang out, and chat while I play games. And I've met so many great people.
