Today I'm appreciating Patrinell Staten's 1969 single Little Love Affair / I Let a Good Man Go. youtu.be/VNtAFqqtge8

What are you appreciating today?

Today I'm appreciating that as quickly as I'm moving into the future, I'm moving into the past even faster. I'm constantly discovering things that people were doing tens or hundreds or thousands of years before I realized they were. And understanding and building on those learnings and connections across the decades and centuries can only make us stronger.

What are you appreciating today?

@shulijun You're welcome! I don't run things on octodon.social, but @CobaltVelvet does. I recommend introducing yourself with or to meet many more people!

@sonicbooming That's wonderful. I really appreciate the human connections too, and the opportunity for people to interact as they want to interact. Thanks!

@Fritillaria2 Yum! I have one of those on my counter just waiting to be eaten!

Today I'm appreciating how many things there are that are yet to be said. This is in no way a scientific test, but try typing in a sentence that you just heard and seeing how often there are zero search results on the internet. The machines don't know everything! Neither do the humans.

What are you appreciating today?

@shingworks I'm vegetarian and lettuce is still a mystery to me.

Today I'm appreciating Mickalene Thomas' painting Le déjeuner sur l’herbe: Les trois femmes noires, which you can see today at the Seattle Art Museum. It's not as sparkly in photos, but I think you get the... picture. mickalenethomas.com/

What are you appreciating today?

Today I'm appreciating that my nephew and niece are keeping up their streak of having their birthday parties at museums. As someone who wanted to be the kids in From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler when I was growing up, it warms my museum-loving heart.

What are you appreciating today?

@Angle The only failure would be in not telling us at all. Now that I know, I can move ahead in my life accordingly.

Please stop calling the police to report black people existing.

Today I'm appreciating ArtsWest's run of the play An Octoroon, which is closing this weekend. It's both funny and harrowing, both unexpected and structured, both artificial and emotional, and constantly had me both feeling things and questioning why I felt that way. And Lamar Legend is pretty amazing in it.

If you're considering it, I definitely recommend taking the content warnings seriously. artswest.org/theatre-plays/an-

What are you appreciating today?

@brook Glad to hear and thanks for the mental image of a skittish sister-in-law diving beneath furniture!

Today I'm appreciating that my brain decided that I would have an extended dream about researching, constructing, and giving a presentation about the career of Ralph Macchio, including imaginary video clips. Admirably random choice, brain.

What are you appreciating today?

Today I'm appreciating the one-day-only Seattle-area nonprofit fundraising event GiveBig. givebigseattle.org/ Today only, there are lots of matching funds opportunities, including a chance for any nonprofit you support to receive an additional $2500.

What are you appreciating today?

Today I'm appreciating Alicia Garza's (co-founder of ) keynote at the Allied Media Conference: alliedmedia.org/news/2017/09/0

"It won't be easy. We will disappoint each other. Make each other mad. We will hurt each other and we will make mistakes. We will disagree. Building a movement across difference for the sake of our collective transformation is that task of our generation and the generations that we will fight for to succeed us."

What are you appreciating today?

@brook Spring is certainly coming on full force this year! Every time I look outside, everything's twice as tall as it was before.
