Today I'm appreciating Carmen Maria Machado's short story collection Her Body and Other Parties and @Heliodora for reminding me to check it out! As the name suggests, the stories all have a common theme of women and how they relate to their bodies. It is one of my favorite genres of writing, the genre that pays no attention to genre boundaries at all. Hey. Take a breath. You're going to be just fine. We fight, we disagree, go back and forth, etc.
That's what happens when you try to figure out solutions. It's just messy.
It's just part of the process. You're ok.
The pro of all of these new instances popping up is that you can build your own communities where you feel safe with people you trust.
The con is that there is less quality control. People of color, women, trans folks, and folks with disabilities and illnesses are constantly harassed when we post on public, a lot of (newer) instances don't have codes of conducts, and we don't have all damn day to keep blocking instances (bc there are so many).
