This is counter to how one should use such a communication tool, I think, but I woke up in a dark mood today and am inclined to talk about it. But, I woke up in a really light place a couple of days ago and shied away from talking about it.

I think this might be some creeping cynicism: viewing positive emoting as phony and relaying the negative as real. That's not healthy.

jdb @jdb

Anyway, the positive from Monday was that it was the 15 year anniversary of moving to this place, settling into a loving relationship with an awesome person and starting a family. It all felt good, despite recalling the pain of leaving Montana and the community I had there.

Today, just gloomy and grumpy with no real cause I can pinpoint.

Doesn't the former seem like the more real and interesting bit to share?

@jdb I think they are both interesting, and sharing one without the other paints an incomplete picture.

@mdiehr Oh, right! That's true. I wish my inclination to share each were the same. I think I'm in a really good place about 75% of any given year. (Not bad, I think) I wonder if I voice the positive to negative at the right ratio.

@mdiehr @jdb I agree with Mark. Both are real, both interesting. In different ways and for various reasons, and yet both are also necessary.

Also: Congrats on the anniversary! And I hope the gloomy doesn't last too long.

@jdb I wouldn't overthink that. It's okay to share something just because you feel like you need it, rather than because it's “interesting” or whatever. If you need to vent, that's okay. If you need to find and share some positivity with other people, that's great. And don't worry, today's clouds will go away sooner than you think!
