It's been a decade or so since I've developed Tri-X, but I see it still cups like crazy! Like scanning a hard taco shell. Still, good enough for a preview, I'm definitely happy with how the roll came out. Next step is to DIY a copy stand so I can get better results "scanning" with a digital camera - I've never been happy with flatbed scanner results, and I don't have money for a Pakon! octodon.social/media/w3JDMf5jk

Quick and dirty inverted phone camera shot in front of the bathroom light, but my first try at stand development worked! And, bonus, looks like this camera is free of light leaks! I scored this Olympus mju-II for all of $10 because it was throwing an error, turns out the weather sealing around the lens was folded over preventing it from extending. Super easy fix and usually they go for around $100, best camera find yet! octodon.social/media/QkIX-TPpw

Guy at drive through: "Hi! You're a bit later than usual today, huh?"

I must leave this place and never return

Also it *may* be time to get some sleep when I start thinking ironic desert chrome styling might be somehow a good idea 😁 octodon.social/media/yGV-OGp5t

Messing around with logos for a blog project! It's been, hmm... five years since I've blogged regularly? Hello WordPress my old friend... octodon.social/media/qX6sJpUtf

Also, I was free-lensing with this antique 8mm movie camera lens in a thrift store today and now I neeeed to track down the lens on its own without a way too expensive antique camera attached, super fun. octodon.social/media/E-HY9K6HN octodon.social/media/qm4__aYMw

Yes! Off-camera flash works plug & play style with the Polaroid, M-Sync delay be damned. This opens up a lot of potential. octodon.social/media/nVOjnApJq

my friend: "hey, how do you turn this lamp on"

Gonna make pinhole cameras out of pallet wood and sell 'em for 500 bucks a pop, call 'em Grandpa's Old Time Photon Traps, gonna be the king of etsy

@koos I'm really considering getting one of the Fuji X100's, I think it's the closest thing to what I want that's out now (and that leaf shutter is awfully tempting for flash work). If only Fuji had the lens ecosystem of Micro Four Thirds, or MFT had Fuji's body design principles...

@paulsheprow Some of the decade old medium format backs are surprisingly getting down there in price used! The R&D and economies of scale on smaller sensors make them hardly worth it now, though, better sensor quality for the money elsewhere...

It bums me out when I'm handling a film camera and fiddling with dials (an important, overlooked part of photography, fiddling with clunky dials) & I think about how market forces in the camera world mean we'll probably never get something like the Epson R-D1 again for a real bridge between the film and digital worlds. Sure, the Leica M-D, but that costs luxury money. Give me a sensor that spits files to an SD card & everything else on the camera can be middle of the road 1970s SLR level tech.

For the Mastodon wishlist: an option to set specific overly prolific tooters to show up in your TL in a kind of digest form, like every hour or so you get their latest toot and a link to see all other toots from that hour, but in the meantime they're not flooding your TL constantly. I wanted something like this on Twitter, there is always that person you really enjoy following, but they're just a little too tweet happy and drown out others.
