@pzmyers That person deserves a freaking medal!
@Latkes Ooh! It's just salsa and avocado but I might actually have to give that a try sometime!
Never been particularly good at the whole social media thing. I think I just fundamentally don't get it. But as an attempt to ease into it once again, please enjoy a picture of my dinner. https://octodon.social/media/YLQ_KH2QRVdOIrUT9SY
Well, you can tell it's been a while since I've had a good play but oh well, good fun anyway!
Also, boo brow sweat at the end!
A few days (weeks?) ago someone on the local feed posted about Cataclysm DDA. They were breaking a self imposed rogue-like ban and mentioned getting sucked back into this game.
I had never heard of Cataclysm. Now I have. So. Whoever you are, I would like to thank you for introducing me to this game.
I would also like to curse you for introducing me to this game.
That is all.
@craigmaloney I wish Lisp was still taught at the university level as an introductory course. At my university we had 2 OOP courses which weren't so much "object oriented" as "Java syntax" courses. We got simplistic definitions and syntax but no real guidance on how to use any of the concepts. Two entire courses! But you can learn everything there is to know about Lisp syntax in like, 10 minutes? If you're going slow? 20 max? And then you can actually start learning how to program!
@DialMforMara Hey, congrats! It's always nice when you actually get to enjoy your work. Good luck with it!
Here's a thing that popped up on youtube that I had never heard of: Prince Rupert's Drop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe-f4gokRBs
Some days I just want to leave the apartment, start walking and never come back. Today is one of those days. Unfortunately my brain is the thing I actually want to get away from and since it comes with me everywhere I go, walking forever will never be the solution I'm looking for.

@natecull Here I am, brain the size of a planet and what do they ask me to do? Watch the fountain. Do you call that a life? Because I don't...*glug glug glug*
@wrongroot Ah, perfect, that ought to do it. I'm not sure how I managed to miss that fact before but thank-you for pointing it out!
Anybody know a Linux and/or Android flashcard program with a documented format for the flashcards? (json, html, xml, whatever...)
I need to be able to write a script to generate the cards. I have several directories full of stuff to be put on flashcards but I don't want to create hundreds/thousands of cards manually. Computers exist to do my tedious work for me so "easily create cards by dragging and dropping" isn't actually appealing....
Thanks in advance! ๐
I don't know how I got to be 37 years old without learning how to poach an egg. But holy crap, now that I know how, I'm never going back! So good!
Came home from work and had the feeling that the dog would be there to greet me when I opened the door. That hasn't happened for months and I hate it when it does because obviously: dog > no dog. โน
(The dog is totally fine btw, she just belongs to my ex. Still sucks.)
Yesterday was my nephew's 8th birthday. Now....I wouldn't say I forgot exactly. I knew it was coming up, life just got busy this month and on Sunday I realized that I hadn't gotten him a gift yet!
Luckily, my sister is great so when I said, "send me a list of stuff that he might want and then tell him that Canada Post lost it and that's why it's late!!!" She just laughed and played along. ๐
Anyway, Star Wars Visual Encyclopedia on it's way! Crisis averted!
