I can't gracefully handle situations when I have to hear people tell me how awful my philosophy, group, or values are and I'm not allowed to respond or my response is ignored. But that's what things are like these days. So my frustration is getting internalized. And it's bound to come out inappropriately when I don't want it to. So apologies in advance for ripping your face off. You don't deserve that overreaction.
@Idoubtit does this happen frequently for you? I'd lose my mind.
@Idoubtit ooohhhhhhhhhhh. I am so, so, so, so sorry. I tried living with that sort of dissonance once. I worked at a religious bookstore. Customers, assuming I believed exactly the same things they did, would cheerily start conversations with me about their pet issue, never considering they might be saying something horribly offesnive to me or others in the store. I couldn't say anything because, hey, customer service.
That comfort they felt in being so nasty in front of me made me sick.
