A common whine among the some internet trolls is that “assault weapons” is an undefined term and well basically exactly what @rotatingskull posted.

Which is bs. California managed to define a certain classes of weapons as assault weapons. So have other states. Yes, we may have to fight this slog state by state, and over the useless bodies of politicians the NRA bought, but it can be done.

@wilbr @jannamark @MissSnarkerson Not really. The assault weapons ban is perhaps the definitive liberal strategy. A shooting happens, then liberals pas a ban on “assault weapons” which are defined in some bizzare and trivial way. Then gun manufacturers very slightly tweak their guns so that none of them are “assault weapons” anymore. Then more shootings happen. Wash, rinse, repeat.

The fact that liberals keep trying it makes me think they actually enjoy failure.

@wilbr Pretty sure the idea that liberals support assault weapons bans is not a false generalization. It’s basically the only thing they took a stand on in the last five years.

@rotatingskull critique of weapons legislation isn't why I jumped into this thread. Blanket statements about "you liberals" which presume to know the affiliations of the people you're arguing with is. It's clear that you're not just mad about gun policy, you're mad at anyone who even vaguely smells like a liberal to you. Otherwise your tone would be far less combative and generalizations far less overt.
