Is anyone else kind of creeped out by the accolades being heaped on Hugh Hefner? Sure, sexual revolution, blah blah blah, but basically a guy who treated women like dirt, and by his example, taught generations of men to do likewise.
There are any number of toots and birdsite posts by celebs, journos, and randos singing Hefner's praises, and most noticeably giving him credit for (good) things he didn't do while ignoring or forgiving him completely for (vile) things he did do.
He did not invent women's liberation, feminism, or the sexual revolution. Women and LBGTQ did all that.
He hijacked the sexual revolution movement to sell his magazine.
And now he's dead, and millions of men of all ages are still alive who fervently believe the sexist myth Hefner sold: that any woman who actually likes sex deserves to be objectified.
So now we have to deprogram his disciples, or wait until they too die of old age.
