@feld @jannamark What are they going to do, impeach him? They should, but then we're stuck with Mike Pence until at least 2020, and possibly until 2028 depending on how elections go.

It might actually be better to leave this asshole in place where he can continue to make Republicans look like assholes.

@starbreaker @feld Everything impeachable that the Trump Family Fraudsters did, Pence also was up to his earlobes in. At least there, we may get lucky with a 2-for-1 impeachment deal

But the GOP strategy seems to be to wait and see whether they even need to see anyone get impeached, because that won't even start to gain traction unless both houses are out of GOP hands at the end of the mid-terms.

@feld @starbreaker I want to say that they are too busy being outraged over asylum-seeking families being torn apart at our southern border, terrified children ripped from their parents, possibly never to see them again.

But I would be totally lying. Most people in Congress are completely okay with that and just fine with the idea of making us all sit up and salute, and being sent to die in a gulag if we don't sit up straight or fast enough.

@jannamark @feld I'm tempted say that maybe America NEEDS to go full-on totalitarian so that people will wake up and remember why we fought so hard against that shit in the 20th century, but all I have to do to avoid getting shipped off to a concentration camp is cut my hair, shut down my website, keep my mouth shut, and be a good German. Other people won't have it so easy.

Praising the heads of human-rights abusing states? Not to mention the "very fine people" of the so-called alt-right?

And elsewhere in the US, police departments coordinating with white supremacists?

We're dangerously close to full-on totalitarian as it is.

@jannamark @feld True, but if I were to start engaging in direct action to curb these abuses, I'd just be murdered and libeled as a mentally ill person.

And I talk about direct action because voting didn't help. Calling congresscritters doesn't help. Protests don't help.

Most USians aren't willing to accept that peaceful revolution has been deliberately made impossible by the powers that be.
