Thinking about other instances. I registered another account on another instance yet as an individual tooter, I can't really see a need. I don't have an inclination to spend lots of time to-ing and fro-ing between account instances.
A pretty quiet offline Easter so far. Blog maintenance with a new theme coming. Some server issues to address with the help of the hosting wizards, and that's about it. Usual service tomorrow :)
"There's an instance for everyone in the rapidly expanding Mastodon fediverse" http://mashable.com/2017/04/15/mastodon-has-instance-for-everyone/ < good report on Mashable
Experimenting a bit, set up another Mastodon presence at https://freeradical.zone/@jangles Not sure yet what I'll do there but I'm interested in learning how different Mastodon instances are, what sort of communities develop. Thinking especially of @Chris idea of hyper local

Noticing more and more emoji featuring in users' profiles, way beyond the fake 'verified' check mark. I just added one (a lightbulb!) to mine. I like this, adds some depth to a profile as you look at someone's and try to get a little more insight into that person. Starting to notice this on Twitter too. Gosh, is Mastodon influencing Twitter?

@wogan got it, thanks
@jangles mastodon is only one of the software applications used to connect to the federation, the other software works differently. Behaviour of things like CW should be consistent across instances that use mastodon (as long as the instance updates to new versions when they come out), but may not be the same when using other software.
@wogan ah, maybe it was NSFW I read about rather than CW
But does that work on every Mastodon instance? I'm sure I read somewhere that respecting CW isn't universal, depends on the instance.
Liking the CW feature in toots over an extended converstion - every toot is also behind the CW. That's pretty good.

Giving thanks to the folk who share their knowledge online - if you ever need to dismantle and repair a single-lever mixer tap in your kitchen, the answer is always on YouTube
"Pepsi, United, and the Speed of Corporate Shame" https://hbr.org/2017/04/pepsi-united-and-the-speed-of-corporate-shame < good analysis in the Harvard Biz Review, contrasting Pepsi's and United Airlines' behaviours regarding their respective PR storms. While Pepsi will recover quickly, United's is without doubt an epic negative event that's hard to see what recovery for United will look like
@wogan the fabric of mastodon :smile:
