@pzmyers I backed that kickstarter, but I took that trees-as-streetlights thing as hyperbole, anyway. I mostly backed it because I wanted to encourage crowdfunding for these sorts of biohacking projects. I suspect most backers just thought a glowing plant would be cool. I think it's a bit harsh to call it a scam; they failed, but they made a serious effort. Did you know that kickstarter banned projects with GMO rewards after they funded? That's more disappointing to me.
TFW you get up in the middle of the night to pee, don't put your glasses on, stop to look at your eyes up really close in the mirror cuz you're basically blind, and then suddenly there's a spider crawling like half an inch away from your eye. I mean, I like spiders, but give me my personal space, little arachnid dude.

Since there seems to be some confusion about central concepts of anarchism:
Direct action is the collective exercising of (counter-)power without establishing or
appealing to representatives but instead directly attempting to influence whatever you want to influence.
Indirect action is trying to nag the twitter Admins to implement better harassment policies. Direct action is to build your own mastodon instance with blackjack and not commodified promiscuity or whatever else floats your goat.

@reignbough Fascist ideology is always inherently violent towards people other then them. So in my opinion punching a fascist is always in defense of yourself or others.
the fact that "social justice warrior" is considered by some a derogatory phrase is rather strange. justice refers to truth, reason, law, and secondarily, morality. all of which seems like things we would want applied to each other, right? even nazis expect social justice amongst one another.
we might as well start insulting our peer's interest in our well-being by calling them friends.
