Spaces in VRChat (and I'm sure others) are totally disconnected, only accessible through warp.
Well, it's not really so weird: there is value in being neighbors of other people or things.
But you could have it both ways! Virtual spaces aren't constrained by Euclidian geometry: you could be next to your friend, and the park, but your friend isn't next to the park, and the park to neither of you.

FINALLY got this working, after taking a break and starting all over. Djesus. I had to use an older binutils and build gdb separately. Then to build a program, the secret sauce is: -flto -O1 (or higher) -msoft-float -mips1 -nostdlib -lgcc -lc
