The exploitation of modern content platforms for purposes other than designed—e.g. Twitter news bots, YouTube music streams, Twitch.tv podcasts, Discord for documentation—is merely a result of their monopolization of content discovery and integration.
Internet radio has apparently existed since 1993 and would technically be better for music streams, but YT is more popular for that because you can use the same app, the same account, the same subscription, etc., that you already use, and they all fall into the same recommendation system.
