How the hell does a late 20s trans woman just starting to live make friends? This close to joining a church just to make friends like my mom does. Wish there was an okcupid for "I want people other then my fiance in my life."
@ikea_femme I hate to say this but... the internet is the only way I've made friends since I got out of college. It works really well, though. Just be yourself and be outgoing online and when you find someone you click with, ask them on a friend date.
@SuzanEraslan Honestly, that's a bit of a relief. I've got the socialization and social skills of an introvert, but suddenly feel a ton more extroverted from transition feels. So internet friends works for me.
@ikea_femme It's also, I find, a safer way to get to know people (despite what our parents thought in the 90s), because you can invest time in them before risking a face to face meeting. Just make sure to always have your first several dates in a public setting (like you would with anyone!).
@ikea_femme ooooh, HOBBIES! There are groups for everything and if you live somewhere not totally rural, you'll have good choices! I recc #knitting - I love those ladies, and they make my life richer! :)
@ikea_femme The only thing that worked for me was our (UK) bisexual convention and moving to a big city. I tend to suck with social media though.
@ikea_femme There is no good solution for this problem. Meetup.com works ok, but has a very workplace bent to it.
