here, we commonly use short hand for cws!
here's some common ones:
"-" means negativity
"+" means positivity
"~" means a neutral level of negativity or positivity, or that the poster is unsure
"mh" means mental health!
"pda" means public display of affection
"birdsite" means twitter
that should be most of them, feel free to reply if you know any other ones!
So, if you know any companies that need a (remote) junior systems administrator, or a (remote) senior technical support analyst/engineer, let me know!
I am looking for remote work, because my new home is in rural north Georgia and there aren't really many jobs in rural north GA.
That being said, I'm also open to anything within ~50 miles of Gilmer County GA.
I know what I'm doing, I'm good at it, and I get invested in the success of my team.

this is a very important and easy thing to do to make mastodon accessible and too many do not use it
Wow, so, I need advice.
Anyone out there who does software development on a contract basis? I got a rather sweet job offer to do such a thing and I'm having a hard time thinking of reasons not to take it.
* It pays enough to cover my own health insurance (yay Murica), and more than my current job
* Work seems quite consistent, haven't been lacking for clients for the last couple years
* People are good to work with
What am I not thinking of?
wtf is up with this design pattern on web apps where there are huge text fields for username and password on the home page and so you type in your username and password only to realize that the button below it says "Create an account!" and then you have to hunt for the tiny "ˢⁱᵍⁿ ⁱⁿ" button in the upper right-hand corner in order to actually sign in to your existing account?
Wow, so some Random Cool Dude submitted an experimental pull request to add a glyph cache library (gfx_glyph) to ggez's text rendering, and I finally got around to benchmarking it.

PREPARE SHIP FOR LUDICROUS SPEED!
The #rust #webassembly working group needs a logo... I think it should be a crab and a spider high-fiving atop a pile of 1's and 0's. Pondering whether it's worth trying to drop a bit of cash on a commission for it... :-p
Is anyone still actually using #securescuttlebutt (#ssb) for anything? I had a poke around but there doesn't seem to be much public activity.
@Azure as a connoisseur of interesting but not necessarily pleasant music, I submit for your delectation this artist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xx5IUyg9whQ
woah til about {:#?} in Rust
I notice I've used the word 'fiasco' a lot more often since becoming a C++ language lawyer.
I don't think this is a coincidence.
I kind of want to make a #rust crate that provides nice easy handling of n-dimensional arrays for data #science, like a higher level `ndarray`. I even thought of the perfect name for it: `wah`.
See, 'cause it's like `pandas`, except Rust instead of Python, and red pandas are kinda rust red and...
Okay, okay, I'll see myself out.
Because I live in fear that there exist people who don't know about this: https://godbolt.org/
