Wow, so some Random Cool Dude submitted an experimental pull request to add a glyph cache library (gfx_glyph) to ggez's text rendering, and I finally got around to benchmarking it.

Oh, and I the maker of warmy also figured out a nice way to make it cooperate with ggez's API (a project we've been working on intermittently for ages) so now you can have hot reloading of assets as they change!
Including compiled code, if you're a bad enough hacker.
@icefox gfx_glyph is pretty great iirc
