Just out of curiosity, have we ever seen anything on Star Trek which supports the idea that the Federation is, in fact, federated? And not eg a military junta? A few Admirals sure seem to run everything we see.
@natecull This would fit with the notion that any country that needs to put "Democratic Republic" in its title may not be quite as stably and effectively democratic as the name would seek to suggest.
