This post got me to look into Fate.
Now I want to play it, make a tool for creating/tracking stories with it, or both.
Played D&D on and off for a bit but my group restarts the game regularly with a new DM/story/characters. When playing we lose focus way too much. I think mechanics are part of that, and Fate's approach might work better for this group - if we ever convene again.
I regularly hear the bad take paraphrased as 'things were worse before so we shouldn't have to make things better than they are now'
I could do without hearing this ever again
