@pnathan Just signed up last night. Cautiously optimistic.
@Euphoria
This is v true for me.
@Michael_Spencer Play the occasional game. Draw the occasional thing. Can't seem to call myself either of the labels though. Probably cos internalized self-loathing or something.
@fobo Thanks for the rec. Listening now. Enjoying it.
my one concern on mastodon is the joking self-deprecation
which is honestly something I noticed a lot on tumblr
inevitably all that negative joking kinda must impact a little on our idea of self
like if I keep joking about myself being garbage a little piece of me is gonna think I'm actually garbage
and I'm just a lil concerned that we encourage that too much w/ shitposting
I just think it's something to be aware of. It's something I personally am trying to be better about anyway.
@CobaltVelvet I dont understand most of what you say, but thanks for all your effort making this place great for us.
@CobaltVelvet all hail our benevolent cyberpunk queen!
@perigee That would be nice if it were standardized. Right now, I think its meaning is all over the place, and often means "look, I found that checkmate, too!"
@Samizdata Got it. Ah, well, ma man.
@Samizdata It's paused in the apps I've tried. You need to pull down to refresh.
somehow it is really appealing to me that we have this beautiful little community together in constant linguistic flux, in which the primary language is a function of the time of day
it's amazing that this article is from 2003 (the onion, politics) Show more
@ikea_femme Sadly, I have no advice on how not to be percieved as insufferable. Some people are never going to want to be told they're acting sexist. But following the Jay Smooth method, make sure to say "that thing they said" was sexist, not that they were "being" sexist. That can help a little. Sometimes. Otherwise, appealing to their better nature can help. "I know you didn't mean it this way, but I was afraid someone might misunderstand and think you meant it that way." Good luck!
@chr Surely also 12345
@gideonro I think because it's really not a fb replacement, it's a twitter one. They're different use cases. To me, it's like asking why fb still exists since Instagram got popular.
@Blazenhoff Fluff and cats. You'll do alright here.
@Blazenhoff
Hey, great to see you on Mastodon! There just aren't enough Fluff toots on here. Think you can fix that?
@ManB3arPug That was awful. I approve.
@Azurolu Did you draw these? I like.
