#art So my questions are:
1) Is this lesser art? Is drawing from reference more skill than art? More craft than art?
2) Tumblr HATES people like me. They accuse me of tracing or copying. (I never trace. It's all copied manually.) They say I'm stealing from others who actually created real art. Thoughts? (I'm not making money, not selling any. My art just existing is an insult/crime.) Thoughts?

Hey world. Anyone wanna have a conversion about #art? Cos I do. First of all, I'm learning to draw. I'm a couple years in, and still fairly terrible, but that's ok. I like the process. Second, I have aphantasia, or compete lack of a mind's eye. So every single thing I draw must either be from reference or pure rite experience (I.e. I've drawn 100 eyes, My hand now knows how to make an eye.) So basically, I have absolutely no way to drow from imagination.

my one concern on mastodon is the joking self-deprecation
which is honestly something I noticed a lot on tumblr
inevitably all that negative joking kinda must impact a little on our idea of self
like if I keep joking about myself being garbage a little piece of me is gonna think I'm actually garbage
and I'm just a lil concerned that we encourage that too much w/ shitposting
I just think it's something to be aware of. It's something I personally am trying to be better about anyway.
