when you think about it, the idea that software should scale is actually really weird. "sure this garden is nice, but how nice can it be if it doesn't grow to cover the entire surface of the earth?"

Plus a gem of a script:

"What'd they used to call you? The Net Ranger? Phineas Phreak? The only man alive who actually hacked NATO Ghostcom."

"You're all kidding yourselves. Even with top of the line crypto. Cray access. STU 3's"

"Thinking Machine laptops, I'm talking about the 686 prototypes -- with the artificial intelligence Risk chip --"

I don't think it necessarily counts for but I've lately been reviewing old mid 90s spy movies where they're trying to start integrating internet stuff since it's in public consciousness and it's hilariously awful. The Saint, GoldenEye, and especially Mission: Impossible. The latter has an adorable nonsense AOL-alike "internet" that's some mix of a search engine and usenet and randomly putting ".com" and "@" in strings to find things.

The fight for diversity, equality and inclusion is the fight for software freedom. Our movement will only be successful if it includes everyone. RMS does not speak for these values.

"y'all" is a power word. Deliberately gender inclusive to those who know better. Slightly folksy and charming to those who don't.

Thought experiment:

whenever you are inclined to argue that we should respectfully mourn or reserve empathy for those who have caused harm to communities,

imagine any single member of the unsung dead who has been so harmed by that person, and send your mourning that way.
