Hello, Octodonners. It looks like Alice's patreon in support of our chosen instance has plateaued. Please do what you can to help our friendly neighborhood cyberpunk queen, @CobaltVelvet

Donating is grand; boosting this, even, will be helpful, to get the message around.

But he wasn't really right about that, as Scott Aaronson and Zach Weinersmith talk about here: smbc-comics.com/comic/the-talk

BTW, if you're not following @dsn_status, you should be. It tells you what stuff the Deep Space Network is talking to. For example, there are dishes in the network receiving data from Voyager 1, at the edge of the Solar System, *right now.* Blows my mind.

"Fresh Out the (Black) Box" by Malcolm Archer verysmartbrothas.com/fresh-out talks about the experience of being an African-American expat in Geneva:

@pzmyers I disagree about "twigs and leaves." There are concepts and questions at the core of science that have made great fodder for high-profile , like the quest for a theory of quantum gravity. Just like in conservation ecology, there are charismatic megafauna of , subjects that are overrepresented due to the hold they have on the public imagination. But, to mix metaphors, I don't think those megafauna tend to be farther from the trunk of the tree of science.

@Idoubtit huh. Just saw this and looked at your website. You've carved out a fascinating niche. Who is your audience? And if you don't mind my asking, how do you support yourself with this work?

@CobaltVelvet I noticed that too. But mastodon.xyz is older, right? That could account for them having more posts. So maybe the real question is why mastodon.cloud is so quiet.

@shanaqui omg those feet. Our would be flipping out and kicking me if I tried to pick him up like that.
