How to Hack a Turned-Off Computer, or Running Unsigned Code in Intel Management Engine
"The main system can remain functional, so the user may not even suspect that his or her computer now has malware resistant to reinstalling of the OS and updating BIOS."
You don't even need an Operating System to get infected with malware anymore.
@franklinovitch I'm secretly hoping they'll have a presentation on #34c3 too. Not that I can attend any of these two events.
@rx14 maybe you can go to that Blackhat Europe 2017 thing? It's in London.
@Wolf480pl I don't particularly wish to go to London without any electronics.
@rx14 It's not DEFCON. The biggest threat on BlackHat is that someone will trick you into buying an expensive Proprietary Firewall Appliance(tm). Getting pwned is less likely AFAIK. Haven't been there tho, so dunno.
@Wolf480pl don't want to risk it
@rx14 IKR, accidentally buing an expensive but proprietary firewall device is no joke
@Wolf480pl if it wasn't proprietary, it wouldn't be expensive.
Just the support contract would be.
@franklinovitch "what if we just built the whole computer out of attack surfaces"
