I watched The Breadwinner (animated, 2017) yesterday, and must say that it was a real master piece!

A young girl in Kabul has to pretend to be a boy to be able to go out and provide for her family when her dad gets arrested. The inhumanity of theocratic rule is shown in a beautiful and deeply human story. Also: Female main characters.
