"Snap apps also open slower than my front door does to the postman at 7 AM."

This made me lol. But is it true, though?

omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/02/ubuntu

Well, yes, it is true. And also the part about them being ugly. At least with VLC, which I just tested after its snap was reccommended by Ubuntu themselves over on birdsite. Not good.

forteller @forteller

Ok, seems like it was just the first boot that was slow. Restarting it has been fast enough almost every time. Still looks terrible, though.

@forteller Ubuntu is slow and awful, news at 11, additionally you may be surprised to know the sky is blue.

@maiyannah Well, as I said it was VLC installed as a snap that was slow to start and ugly, not Ubuntu. And it was only slow the first time I started it after installing. I've been quite happy with Ubuntu/Ubuntu Gnome since I started using it more than ten years ago

@forteller in other words not worth downloading yet?

@Sviundt I'd rather say that any snap is not worth installing until they fix the UI issue. VLC 3.0 is probablly worth it, if you can get it in some other way.
