Ok, so I'm downloading a photo from Firefox, and the address bar says it's a png, but the download dialogue says it's a webp. What's the deal with that? 🤨

@forteller the url in the address bar is just the address of the resource (the image). that it ends in .png does not mean it is a png. that is the mime-type, which is part of the response from the server, and usually based on the request (which includes a list of formats the browser understands)

the web is not a file-system

this is also why a url without .png can still be a png image
