Remember in Bojack Horseman where they make a joke that Vincent Adultman bought the movie rights to the game Tag from some kindergartners? I guess movie execs thought that was actually a good idea when they greenlit the Tag movie.

The cringiest part of Deadpool 2 might be when he's like "dubstep is cool XD" and they play That Skrillex Song that normies will recognize, and treat it like this setup is some kind of joke somehow?

I'm kinda skeptical that Jurassic World 2 will be good, but it looks like they finally made a Jurassic Park movie without any damn children in it so that's promising.

Deadpool 2 quick review:

Recognizing that you're in a movie, or that the plot is bad is not a joke. At best it's cloying, at worst you're just acknowledging the movie's many flaws, and brushing them away without trying to fix them. Deadpool is marketed and branded as not being like one of the tens of other marvel movies of the past few years, but it really is. Take out the blood, swearing and bad meta jokes, and it's a below-average X-Men movie. Pass unless you like capeshit.

Today somebody wrote me a really nice email about how they saw some open source software I published, how they were building upon it, and thanked me for it. It made feel really great. More people should send these kind of emails (myself included), it's really validating and made my week.

I knew the opioid crisis was a problem but the sheer magnitude didn't click until I saw this graph. The leading cause of injury-related death in the US from age 23 to 64 is "poisoning". This is mostly opioid overdoses.

DRM on static content (i.e. movies, music) makes so little sense to me even from a practical perspective... like obviously it is going to be possible to snatch that signal out of an HDMI cable when you convert to some other format, or you can bust out a camcorder, or worst case clamp some pins on a ribbon cable to an LCD panel. IDK why they put so much time and effort into something so futile.

Elixir seems really neat, it's on my "to-learn" list.

Just for fun, tried installing #pleroma in a VM and it was super easy to get running and start fiddling with, even though I know zero about Elixir or Postgres.
