@pixelpaperyarn I had an Atari, too! Still have it and the games, and it was still working last time I checked a few years ago. I didn't have a Commodore 64 either. My parents got me an Adam Computer. I think it would have been Christmas of '83. It was not great. Got a lot more use out of the Atari. :)
i do this kinda weekly newsletter thing where i collect a bunch of stuff i've found that makes me happy.
i call it "Cool Shit I Forgot I Bookmarked" and i just sent out the newest installment.
If you aren't enjoying the path to your destination, reroute. Life is hard enough. Enjoy the ride..
No UTI, but they are keeping my sample to see if it grows anything in 24 hours. In the meantime, I was told to drink my brains out, which I found amusing.
I need to get some stained glass I sold mailed today, and I would rather not leave the house. What a dreary day! And I feel like I am getting a UTI, so that is just great. Happy Monday. 😐
Seeing my parents suffering from things like arthritis is really making me think about my lifestyle. I'm not getting any younger myself, and it really does make me want to start changing my eating and exercising habits.
If I could make one or two small changes and make myself a bit healthier, then that would be a good thing.
Why Walking Helps Us Think
http://www.newyorker.com/tech/elements/walking-helps-us-think
"Many experiments have shown... even very mild exertion, people perform better on tests of memory and attention. Walking... promotes new connections between brain cells, staves off the usual withering of brain tissue that comes with age, increases the volume of the hippocampus (a brain region crucial for memory)"
A haiku about getting out of bed:
No no no no no
No no no no no no no
No no no no no
My daughter is back home after two nights at camp. She loved it and can't wait to go back. Her leader said she did well and the other leaders there couldn't believe she was only four. So proud of her!
@shatteredgears Mine does that too. :(
@shatteredgears I try not to think about it. It is always there though, no matter what. It was pretty low for a few years, but got worse after a really bad head cold.
@forestine Oh god, yeah, it would be unbearable for sure. I need something in the background at all times. Fan, music, tv, whatever. I have hearing loss, so I tried a hearing aid, which apparently does help some tinnitus sufferers. It just made it worse. Way worse. Fingers crossed for some sort of treatment for it one day.
@shatteredgears Sorry to hear you have tinnitus too. It is the worst! I would pretty much give anything to not have it.
How is it that my husband can fall asleep seconds after his head hits the pillow?! It takes me at least an hour. It used to take a couple hours, but then I discovered melatonin. It doesn't help that I have tinnitus. I've never really been a good sleeper, though. I have trouble turning my brain off.
Dropped my four-year-old daughter off at Sparks (Girl Guides) camp tonight for the weekend. Kid-free until Sunday. Yahoo!
@spridlewv Hi! Yes, I'm new. Here via PZ Myers' blog. Nice to meet you. :)
@s02303947 Very true.
#Trump handed out print-outs of maps showing his electoral college win at an interview. It brought to mind my late mother in the beginning stages of her Alzheimers when she kept photos of the inside of her house in her purse to randomly take out and show people. She was proud of her home, sure, but it was super strange. Alzheimers sucks. Not saying he has dementia or anything, but it reminded me of my mom.
